Getting started

How do I scan a product?

Tap Scan, then point your camera at the printed ingredients (INCI) list on the back or side of the product — not the front of the pack. Keep it flat and well-lit. In a few seconds you’ll see a safety grade, irritant and allergen flags, pregnancy and halal indicators, and pore-clogging (comedogenic) risk. You can also pick an existing photo from your library.

It didn’t read my label correctly.
  • Make sure the ingredients list is in frame (not the brand name or claims).
  • Avoid glare and blur; hold steady and fill the frame with the text.
  • Very small or curved packaging can be hard to read — try a straighter angle or a photo from your library.
  • The app needs an internet connection to analyze the label.

Scans, plans & purchases

How many free scans do I get?

You start with a batch of free scans, and a small number of free scans refill automatically each month. If you scan a lot, a subscription gives you unlimited scanning; if you only need a few extra, you can buy a one-time top-up instead — no subscription required.

What do subscriptions cost?

There’s a Monthly and an Annual plan, both with unlimited scanning. Prices are shown in the app and vary by country. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

How do I restore a purchase or cancel?

Open the app, go to the upgrade/paywall screen, and tap Restore purchases. To cancel a subscription, go to your device’s App Store (or Google Play) account → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Can I get a refund?

Purchases are handled by Apple or Google. Refund requests are made through them — for the App Store, use reportaproblem.apple.com. One-time top-ups are consumed as you scan and are generally non-refundable once used.

Privacy & accuracy

What data do you collect?

No account, and no name, email, or location. We use only an anonymous device ID to manage your free scans and purchases, and we don’t store the photos you scan. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How accurate is the result? Is it medical advice?

Pure Decode Skin is an informational guide based on public ingredient information and AI reading of the label. It is not medical or dermatological advice, it can make mistakes, and it can’t detect ingredients that aren’t printed on the label. Always check the actual label and consult a professional about allergies, pregnancy, or skin conditions.

How do I delete my data?

Deleting the app removes all locally stored settings. To delete the anonymous record tied to your device, email support@puredecode.com with your device ID (shown in Settings).
