Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 30, 2026
This policy explains what Pure Decode Skin (“the app”, “we”, “us”) processes when you use it, why, and the choices you have. Pure Decode Skin is an independent app operated by Rui Kobayashi.
1. No account, no personal profile
You can use the app immediately — there is no sign-up, login, or profile. We do not collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, precise or coarse location, or social accounts. Any preferences you set (for example your skin type, or whether you want pregnancy or halal flags) are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to us.
2. What we do process, and why
- Anonymous device identifier. A randomly generated ID (UUID) is created on first launch. We use it solely to apply your free monthly scan allowance and to link any purchases you make to your device. It is not linked to your real-world identity and is not used to track you.
- The label photo you scan. When you scan a product, the image is sent to our service and to our AI provider to read the printed ingredients (INCI) list and generate a result. We do not keep the photo. We store only a mathematical hash of the image together with the analysis result, so that scanning the same label again is faster and doesn’t use another AI request.
- Purchase status. If you subscribe or buy a scan top-up, we record that your device is entitled (and how many scans remain). Payment itself is handled by Apple, Google, or our web payment provider — we never see your card details.
- Basic technical logs. Our hosting provider processes standard request data (such as IP address and timestamps) to operate and secure the service. We do not use this to build a profile of you.
3. Service providers
We use a small number of processors strictly to run the app:
- Google (Gemini AI) — analyzes the label image to read ingredients. Google processes the image for this request; see Google’s privacy terms for their handling.
- Vercel — hosts the website and the scan API.
- Supabase — stores the anonymous device record, scan-result cache, and entitlement data.
- Apple App Store / Google Play — process in-app purchases and subscriptions on their own terms.
We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers, and we run no advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
4. Tracking and advertising
Pure Decode Skin does not track you across apps or websites and shows no ads. Because we do not track you, the app does not present Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt.
5. Data retention
Cached results and their image hashes are kept to speed up repeat scans and may be periodically cleared. The anonymous device record and purchase status are kept while your device continues to use the app. You can ask us to delete your device record at any time (see Contact).
6. Children
The app is rated for general audiences and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect information from children, and because we require no personal data, none is requested during use.
7. Your choices and rights
Because we hold no name or email, we cannot identify you from our records. You can clear all locally stored preferences by deleting the app. To request deletion of the anonymous data associated with your device, email us using the address below and, where possible, include your device ID (shown in the app’s Settings).
8. Medical disclaimer
Pure Decode Skin provides informational guidance based on publicly available ingredient information and AI analysis of a label. It is not medical or dermatological advice, it can be inaccurate, and it cannot detect ingredients that are not printed on the label. Always verify the label and consult a qualified professional about allergies, pregnancy, or skin conditions.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
